Welcome Fellow Adventurists
We’re Carl and Samantha Van Maanen, owners of Isenzo Tours. We both have a love for the outdoors and an appreciation for nature.
Come and meet our Giraffes, Zebras, Impala and Nyala that can be found walking past our veranda or grazing in front of our home. The estate has stunning hiking trails and a nice dam where you can relax or fish. Our Guest house is situated in a wild life country estate and is in a safe and relaxed environment.
You can choose between the many of our sports Holiday Adventure Tours and Activities and unwind in our heated pool with a sun-downer. We look forward to welcoming you to take part in this unique journey with us and to discover a beautiful part of South Africa in it’s natural beauty.
We live on a wild life estate called Wild Fig, in White River, Mpumalanga Province. It is approximately 300 hectares in size and we have Giraffes, Wildebeest, Zebra, Nyala and Impala grazing on our doorstep.
What makes Isenzo Tours so special is that we are always on a mission to make experiences and memories a priority. Life is meant to be lived. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
I’m becoming more active, thanks to Carl’s motivation. I love nature and supporting Carl on his many races such as the Cape Epic and Cape Pioneer. We own one of the local cycling shops and take part in many local races and events. There’s usually a water point at the events that is great fun. According to people close to me my strengths include taking excellent care of people whilst making them feel pampered and cared for. I’m a people’s person and have the ability to make others feel at home. I’m always excited to show our guests the beautiful country we live in and offer them a taste of the healthy, local cuisine including local favourites such as Biltong, Potjiekos and the traditional South African Braai(BBQ).
I was born in Johannesburg on September 1973. I studied Art, Ballet, Drama and Music. I’ve worked for various Hotels and Caterers before starting my own catering company.I met Carl in 1996 and it was love at first sight. We got married in 1998 and settled in South Africa. In 2002 our daughter Savannah was born and in 2004 our son Joshua. The decision to move to the White River in the Lowveld (also referred to as ‘Slowveld’) was easy as we wanted a better way of life for our kids to grow up in.

In the late 1980’s I started mountain biking although “mountain” biking in The Netherlands is a relative loosely used term, so we often made trips to Belgium, Switzerland and France. After a few years of only recreational riding I wanted to get back in shape and started participating in mtb stage races. My first Cape Epic was in 2009 and I have since then completed 6 Cape Epics, 4 Cape Pioneer Treks, 1 Joberg2C and many other races.I love riding my bike and being in nature. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction and gratitude. I am looking forward showing our potential guests the many kilometres of single track, the undulating tar roads and the stunning surroundings.
I was born in 1970 in the small town of Voorthuizen in The Netherlands. I started riding bicycles for sport when I was approximately 12 years old. I got my first road bike that year and rode with my friend over the small farmland roads around our town where I grew up. After my education in agriculture and doing my conscription with the Special Forces, I completed my studies with a degree in engineering. In 1998 I married the love of my life Samantha, who I met in 1996 when I did my practical, for university, in South Africa. We have a daughter Savannah, born in 2002, and a son Joshua of 12 years old. In 2011 we decided to move from the hustle and bustle in Johannesburg to the small town of White River in Mpumalanga.
